Lab Grown Diamonds — An Interview with Lauren McCawley

I interviewed Lauren McCawley (https://www.instagram.com/socabelle/), owner of her own high level Jewelry PR firm about her thoughts on lab grown diamonds. Since a mined diamond and lab grown diamond are comprised of the same material, the only
difference is that one is mined out of the earth and the other is grown in a lab.

Lauren: I like lab grown diamonds because when people are shopping for that 1 carat diamond, you now have a choice between a mined diamond from the ground, or a diamond grown in a lab. The price of the lab grown diamond is about 30% less than the price of the mined diamond, so you can buy a 1 carat diamond for 30% less, or buy a larger 1.3 carat lab-grown diamond for the same price as a 1 carat mined diamond. It gives the buying public more choices.

Gerald: I did not think of that. I know when l’m working with a couple, the man always wants to buy the best quality for his money, and the woman always wants to buy the larger diamond within the budget. So if they go with a lab grown diamond, they both win.

Readers, I’d love to hear your thoughts on lab grown diamonds (also known as CVD Diamonds). Do the “green” qualities appeal to you? Please email me your thoughts at my private email address: GeraldDavid.Bauman@gmail.com.

Stay tuned for the second part of my interview with Lauren.

As Always,

Gerald
